PROF. ALFRED HÄSSIG DIED (NOV. '99)

Prof. Alfred H�ssig (1921-1999) died on Nov. 14th from the complications of his diabetes, a rare form of lung cancer. Alfred H�ssig M.D., was Professor Emeritus in Immunology at the University of Bern, a former Director of the Swiss Red Cross Transfusion Service, and a former President of the Board of Trustees of the International Society of Blood Transfusion. He rejected an invitation to join the National Commission on AIDS in Switzerland and became one of Europe's most important AIDS dissidents. At the age of 65, with colleagues he formed the Study Group for Nutrition and Immunity and started to study the AIDS literature from an immunological perspective.

ANOTHER FALSE POSITIVE LAWSUIT (NOV. '99)

James Gaunt, "...has filed a civil lawsuit in Worcester Superior Court accusing SmithKline Beecham clinical laboratories of negligence in connection with the blood testing that he says made him believe he was HIV-positive. ...A second test was performed at UMass, which determined that he was HIV-negative..." PRESIDENT MBEKI QUESTIONS AZT (NOV. '99) 

Thabo Mbeki "South African President Thabo Mbeki, under pressure to supply the anti-AIDS drug AZT to thousands of rape victims in the country, said his government was investigating whether the drug was safe to use," writes Reuters. See also this I-Africa news item. Glaxo lied again and said the drug was safe. AP reported Mbeki got his information from the internet, see this article too. Could be from this site, see also this article. Prof. Peter Duesberg has been interviewed on SA's prime-time TV. Glaxo met with SA's Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang. ANOTHER MOM HIDING (OCT. '99)

"Somewhere in Alberta, a 29-year old mother is in hiding with her two infant sons. MOTHERING MAGAZINE (OCT. '99)

Peggy O'Mara, editor of Mothering magazine, wrote an article about HIV testing. "Pregnancy is just one of 64 "conditions" that can cause a woman to falsely test positive for HIV."


NEW BOOK BY TOXICOLOGIST (OCT. '99)

As an expert pathologist and toxicologist, Dr. Mohammed Al-Bayati evaluated the published literature on the world-wide AIDS epidemic and has found that HIV does not cause AIDS. In his recently published book entitled "Get All The Facts: HIV Does Not Cause AIDS" Dr. Al-Bayati describes the multifactorial causes of AIDS in the world, explains the pathogenesis of AIDS in different risk groups, and presents recommendations for treatment for patients with "AIDS". CHILD MURDERERS (SEPT./OCT. '99)

Nicholas Regush Nicholas Regush started questioning AZT use for newborns in his (second) abcnews column on the AIDS controversy. "...he began shouting at me, saying that if I wrote anything at all on this issue, I would be a �child murderer.� He threatened that if I wrote anything, he would do everything possible to get me fired from my column and my �bosses� fired. AIDS DRUGS CAUSE BIRTH DEFECTS (SEPT. '99)

"Two popular HIV drugs may cause birth defects and should be avoided by pregnant women until more is known about their effects... German researchers ...at Freie Universitat Berlin gave the two drugs, Merck's indinavir, known as Crixivan, and Abbott Laboratories' Norvir, or ritonavir, to pregnant rats. ...Seven of the 236 baby rats exposed to indinavir in the womb were born missing one eye, and two of the 113 baby rats exposed to ritonavir had a missing eye, the team reported. Fur and teeth also developed later than normal in some of them, they said." (Reuters 28 Sept. 1999)

A conference sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health entitled "Early Detection of HIV: Emerging Issues in Prevention and Care" got off to a rocky start when activists from San Francisco confronted Representative Nancy Pelosi over the lack of fiscal accountability in federally funded AIDS research and care programs. ACTIONS ON CAPITOL HILL (JULY '99)

The International Coalition for Medical Justice (ICMJ) started actions on Capitol Hill. Every member of Congress in Washington, D.C. has received an edition of 'Inventing The AIDS Virus', by Prof. Peter Duesberg; an article by Dr. Kary Mullis; and a letter calling for a reappraisal of the HIV/AIDS hypothesis, in the form of a General Accounting Office audit. Next day a full-page advertisement was placed in Capitol Hill's political news daily, calling for a reappraisal of the HIV/AIDS hypothesis. Deane Collie, executive director of ICMJ, and Robert Leppo, board member, have met with several members of Congress. See also this call for action.


ACT UP STRIKES AGAIN (JULY '99)

Thirty angry protesters led by a contingent from ACT UP San Francisco took to the streets of Atlanta to protest what they call "unsafe, unnecessary and unethical" AIDS vaccine experiments currently taking place in the U.S. and Thailand and planned for nations of Africa.
